Where Will Travers Sign?

Luke Travers’ decision to leave the Perth Wildcats caught many by surprise, but there’s no doubting his signature now becomes one of the most in-demand across the NBL.

The 21-year-old announced his intention to explore Free Agency options on Thursday, following four seasons at the Wildcats.

Now, the race to sign him heats up.

“Melbourne is very much in the mix,” ESPN insider Olgun Uluc revealed on The Marketplace. 

“Illawarra put forward a really strong offer … there are a bunch of teams interested in him.

“When you speak about those top-tier free agents, we mention (Will) McDowell-White and Keanu Pinder as those two guys, but I’d put Luke Travers right in that same tier.

“In the same way that most of the league is going after those two guys, it’s the same sort of vein for Travers too.”

Travers had his best year yet during NBL23, averaging 9.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and three assists.

He significantly upped his production from the three-point line, shooting at more than 40 per cent from deep, and logged career-high minutes, at 24 a game. 

Travers was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2022, with the 56th overall pick in the NBA Draft.
