Luke Travers has tasted title success by winning the NBA Summer League title with Cleveland.

Luke Travers has started his NBL24 pre-season in the best possible fashion, playing a key role in the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 2023 NBA Summer League triumph.

The Cavaliers defeated Houston by 21 points in the championship game, largely behind the strong scoring performances of fully rostered guard Sam Merrill, and two-way players Emoni Bates and Isaiah Mobley.

The trio combined for 74 of Cleveland’s 99 points.

Travers scored six points in the decider and during the tournament, once again hammered home his NBA-level potential. He also contributed four rebounds, four assists, a steal and two blocks to place a full stop on what has been a remarkably successful Summer League for the 21-year-old.

He played in each of Cleveland’s five games, and averaged 7.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 2.2 blocks per appearance.

Only two players who participated in all five of their team’s games averaged more blocks per game than the former Perth Wildcat – Philadelphia forward Greg Brown III, and Charlotte centre James Nnaji.

Travers will embark on his first pre-season in Melbourne when he returns to Australia, and will play his first game of NBL24 in United’s season opener against South East Melbourne on Thursday, September 28.
