Phoenix Provide Qi Return Update

South East Melbourne Phoenix CEO Tommy Greer has admitted time is running out for a potential Zhou Qi return this season.

Qi departed the Phoenix in December to return home to China for family reasons. While the club remains in contact with the star big man, Greer has told Newscorp they have no timeline on his comeback.

“We don’t have a return date set yet and we are starting to get pretty late in the season. We still remain somewhat hopeful, but there is nothing set,” Greer said.

Greer confirmed both the club and Qi remain open on discussions on a contract extension.

Qi averaged 6.2 points and 4.4 rebounds in nine games for South East Melbourne this season.
