Will McDowell-White has revealed coach Mody Maor was the main factor in him choosing to stay in New Zealand.

On Wednesday, ESPN Insider Olgun Uluc reported McDowell-White had signed a new two-year deal with the Breakers.

The star guard says he wants to step things up again in NBL24, and help his team to go one better, after finishing runners-up this season.

"Honestly, the biggest factor was Mody," McDowell-White told Uluc.

"We'd built something pretty special over the last couple of years … with what I've built with him, I have the most trust in him, and belief that we can take another step.”

McDowell-White had interest from several clubs across the League, but never had any hesitation re-committing to the Breakers.

"I want to take on more of a leadership role, and the next thing is putting it together for a whole season,” he said.

The 24-year-old will head to Los Angeles in May to continue working on his game, and expects nothing less than another “big year” from New Zealand coming up.
