Lindsay Gaze: "Outstanding" NBL "At Its Peak"

Lindsay Gaze says the NBL has never been stronger, boasting talent and competitiveness unrivalled in its 44-year history.

It’s a strong statement from a man labelled the “Godfather of Australian basketball”, and one of just six Australian basketball figures with Legend status. 

“I think anyone who has been around for a while would have to say that the NBL at present is at its peak,” Gaze told Newscorp.

“It’s not saying that it’s not going to get better, but the talent that we have in the league at present, I think it’s outstanding.”

Gaze boasts an incredible basketball resume, with two championships as coach at the Melbourne Tigers and three NBL Coach of the Year awards, to go with a prestigious 13-year playing career. 

In all, he led the Tigers for 35 seasons (22 in the NBL) and 651 games, also coaching Australian’s Olympic basketball team on four occasions.
