JackJumpers sign championship winner

Friday, January 5, 2024
The Tasmania JackJumpers have announced several roster changes.
The Tasmania JackJumpers are pleased to announce the signing of championship winning forward Tom Vodanovich for the remainder of the NBL24 season.
Vodanovich has just finished his time with the FiberXers in the Philippines and has been granted a release from former NBL club, the New Zealand Breakers, in order to join the JackJumpers. He will cover the absence of Majok Deng through injury.
“With recent injuries, we’ve opted to bring in Tom, who was the best available big and he fits our needs as we prepare for the back-end of the season,” coach Scott Roth said.
The 6’7 power forward won the 2022 NBL championship with Sydney Kings and brings international experience and toughness.
As part of Vodanovich's recruitment, Tasmania has deactivated the contract of guard Junior Madut.
“Junior is a fantastic young guy who has a really promising future. His attitude and work ethic has been fantastic, however we have decided to bring in a bigger body option to cover injuries,” Roth said.
Vodanovich will join the JackJumpers from next week, with an expectation he will travel to Brisbane to take on the Bullets in Round 15.
Guard Lachie Barker has been elevated to the main roster as the Nominated Replacement Player for Deng, while he recovers from the ankle injury sustained during the Christmas game.
Majok Majok’s NRP contract with Tasmania has come to an end, however he continues to remain with the group as a training player.
