The NBL’s Indigenous Round was launched at Parliament House with great success yesterday, with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Minister for Indigenous Australians Linda Burney playing a key role during proceedings.

During his speech Albanese praised the NBL’s commitment to not only raising the bar for its persistence in improving First Nations talent across the nation, but also its nation-leading reconciliation action plan.

Speaking on NBL Today, NBL analyst Liam Santamaria lauded the quality of the event.

“What a spectacular and terrific way to kick off and open Indigenous Round,” Santamaria said.

“The PM stepping up and talking about the league, it’s reconciliation action plan and the initiatives that have been put in place.

“Hats off to Tristan Russel and his team, and Jeremy (Loeliger) and Larry (Kestelman) and everyone involved.”

At the time of writing nine of the competition’s ten sides have released their Indigenous jerseys for the round – which is set to begin on December 8.

“Hats off to all that have designed the jerseys,” Santamaria said. “They look spectacular.

“I particularly like the Adelaide one … 17-year-old Monica Turner-Collins who’s a bit of a deadly Aussie Rules player has designed that. It looks terrific.”Where To Watch 1920x250
