Van Groningen departs

Adelaide 36ers GM of Basketball Jeff Van Groningen has departed the club after joining the team in late 2019.

“This chapter is complete as I now move into new opportunities that are unfolding within this great game, as well as spending time with my family. I wish all at the Sixers success and know that the players are in great hands with CJ (Bruton) on deck,” Van Groningen said.

Randle dreams of fairy tale

Adelaide legend Jerome Randle is still hoping for a dream ending to his career with the 36ers.

“My heart and my soul and my love, everything is still with Adelaide. I want to finish there before I hang them up,” Randle told FiveAA.

Give a sh*t: Forde’s blunt message

Cairns Taipans coach Adam Forde has delivered a blunt message to his struggling team – it is time to “give a sh*t”.

“(I want) for the guys to install confidence back into the community, to actually give a sh*t. We want these guys to be proud to represent the jersey and they are. There is a strong belief and desire in this group to want to play hard,” Forde said via the Cairns Post.

“There’s is a fork in the road for us and we can either keep going down that same road that got us in this position. Or we fight through the adversity, fight through the mental side of it and we rise above it and become better for it.”

McCall lifts lid on players meeting

Taipans guard Tahjere McCall has lifted the lid on the players only meeting he drove after the club’s loss to Adelaide.

“I just felt terrible after the game, I always say what I feel and how I feel. I don’t like having hidden agendas or not understanding the aura of the room…it’s a blessing to do this job and we’re taking it for granted, so we just need to have a different attitude,” McCall said via the Cairns Post.

Sobey could return in Sunshine Stoush

Brisbane Bullets star Nathan Sobey is inching closer to a return from injury but teammate Jason Cadee says they won’t rush back the Boomers bronze medallist.

“It’s his career and his body – you can’t risk someone’s career because our season is where it’s at. We need to do our job and help that, so that he can play his part as best he can, but I wouldn’t want someone to play that wasn’t able to play at their full ability,” Cadee said via the Courier Mail.

Travers builds shooting confidence

Perth Wildcats youngster Luke Travers has revealed a changed mindset has helped improve his three-point shooting percentage.

“Going through the little slump that I went through was always a confidence thing. It was more about shooting the ball to actually make it rather than shooting it because I was open. A big focus for me after that Sydney game was to always have my feet ready,” Travers said via the West Australian.
