Headlines should be on team: JLA
Melbourne star Jo Lual-Acuil says the focus should be on United’s strong team efforts, as opposed to his individual performances, as they improved to 10-4 after last night’s Throwdown win.
“So as much attention is going to be on me but it’s really the team. It’s a collective effort and I would like that to be more of a headline instead of my play,” Lual-Acuil said via The Age.
Phoenix looking for ways to involve Broekhoff
South East Melbourne Phoenix coach Simon Mitchell has admitted they need to do a better job at getting Ryan Broekhoff looks on offence, after he had just three field goal attempts last night.
“A little bit on us, creating opportunities for him. We need to find better ways to get him involved,” Mitchell said.
Pinder to start
Cairns Taipans coach Adam Forde is expected to reward energetic big man Keanu Pinder with a spot in the starting line-up tonight against Illawarra.
“I think Keanu’s been our best player, so why wouldn’t I reward him with a starting position? In the past four games, he’s been our most consistent individual so I think I need to reward that,” Forde said via the Cairns Post.
Machado identifies keys for Taipans
Taipans star guard Scott Machado has highlighted the areas where Cairns must improve ahead of tonight’s game with the Hawks.
“We keep doing the same things and we keep shooting ourselves in the foot. We’ve gotta pay attention to details, make sure we’re holding each other accountable…watching out, taking care of the ball,” Machado said via the Cairns Post.
Pressure building for Hawks
Illawarra coach Brian Goorjian has labelled round 12 as “instrumental” in the Hawks’ search for a finals spot.
“We're under tremendous pressure because we'll on the road soon. These (next) two will be instrumental if we're going to make the top four. You've got to do your work and we're definitely under pressure,” Goorjian said via the Illawarra Mercury.
