Big Broekhoff blow

South East Melbourne Phoenix star Ryan Broekhoff is set to miss a month after suffering a grade 2 AC sprain in Sunday’s Throwdown.

Cotton explains game winner

Perth Wildcats superstar Bryce Cotton says his “eyes lit up” when he saw the space he had before nailing an epic game winner against New Zealand.

“I was looking and anticipating the double but it didn’t happen. Once that happened and I saw a pathway, my eyes lit up and I just wanted to take my time and follow through. Once I saw that space open up, it’s like 0.5 second decision. You’ve just got to live with the result,” Cotton said via The West Australian.

JackJumpers need more late discipline

After almost blowing a big lead against the Illawarra Hawks, Tasmania JackJumpers guard Matt Kenyon says the team needs to be better in clutch situations.

“We’ve got to be more disciplined down the back end, we were tired but no excuses, we should be better next game,” Kenyon said via The Mercury.

Hawks control their destiny

Hawks coach Brian Goorjian isn’t panicking about his team’s finals hopes, explaining how they control their own destiny with their remaining schedule.

“What gives us a chance is that we're playing all the teams in the four, whether it be on the road or at home. We've got Sydney twice, we've got Perth, we've got Melbourne and if we lose those games, we're out, if we win those games, we've got a great chance of getting in,” Goorjian said via the Illawarra Mercury.

Taipans playing for jobs

Cairns Taipans coach Adam Forde has put the pressure on his squad, saying jobs will be on the line in the final stretch of the season.

“This is the problem with the NBL, myself included, is people get comfortable with their jobs. There’s no guarantee I get to the end of this season and I’m playing for next year,” Forde said via the Cairns Post.
