Hunt begins for NBL's next 2K star

Australia’s next generation of gamers will have a life changing opportunity to earn a spot on the NBL Oz Gaming roster next month.

Coming off their historic run to the NBA 2K League Finals, the NBL Oz Gaming Tournament Series will provide the chance to show off your NBA 2K skills and start your journey towards a professional Esports career.

Last year’s NBA 2K League Australian Invitational helped NBL Oz Gaming find its inaugural player Harry Spierings, who developed into one of the league’s best point guards. 

The Series will feature 5v5 and 3x3 NBA 2K24 competitions, taking place from October 13 - 22 with cash prizes, and a NBA 2K League contract and draft eligibility on the line.

Each winning team will compete for a cash prize ($5,000 for 5v5 and $3,000 3v3) and a chance to take their talents to the world stage in the NBA 2K League with draft eligibility.

Registrations open today, with the finals taking place from October 15th (3v3) and October 22nd (5v5), streamed live via the NBL’s Twitch channel.

The online tournament will feature three events: the NBL Oz Gaming 5v5 Tournament – Open Qualifier, NBL Oz Gaming 3v3 Tournament and the NBL Oz Gaming 5v5 Tournament.

Format: An open tournament featuring a Best of 1 game in a Double Elimination (played through to the end for seeding). The top eight teams of the open qualifiers will progress to the NBL Oz Gaming 5v5 Tournament.

Format: An open tournament featuring a Best of 5, single elimination tournament.

NBL Oz Gaming 5v5 Tournament

Format: Eight invited teams will join the top eight teams from the Open Qualifiers in a top sixteen single elimination bracket. Starting with a Single Elimination, the Tournament progresses into a Best of 3 for Round 1, Quarter Final and the Semi-Final. Finishing with a Best of 5 for the Grand Finals.

All players will be required to register by Tuesday 10 October 12PM AEDT to compete for the tournament. Eligible platforms include PS5 + XBOX Series X/S (crossplay allowed). All times and dates are AEDT, players must be over the age of 18 and reside in Australia and New Zealand.
