Hawks star could return for NBL25

Could we see Gary Clark back in the NBL next season?

If his love for Australia and Illawarra is anything to go by, a return to the Illawarra Hawks is very much a possibility.

Clark has been a star across NBL24, named in the All-NBL First Team and registering averages of 17.8 points and 7.1 rebounds a game.

He had a huge game against Melbourne United in Game 2 of the Hawks’ Playoff Series, with 31 points and 16 rebounds. 

“I’m a free agent this summer, there’s been talks here and there, but my agent deals with all that,” Clark told Code Sports.

“He said there’s a bunch of stuff to talk about, but he wants me to focus on playoffs right now and I want to try to win it all.”

Code Sports revealed Illawarra has an interest in bringing Clark back for a second season, and it’s little wonder given their incredible turnaround. 

The Hawks won just three games across NBL23, but are now on the verge of playing in the Championship Series. 

Clark said he’d met people in Illawarra “who will be in my life forever”.
