ESPN to beam NBL into USA

Friday, September 29, 2023
"Interest in the NBL from across the globe, and particularly in the USA, has never been bigger."
With global interest in the Hungry Jack’s National Basketball League (NBL) at an all-time high, a new deal has been struck with ESPN to air all games exclusively LIVE into the United States.
The entire 2023/24 season will be carried on ESPN3 and the ESPN App in a landmark deal for the League and provides further proof the NBL is the best league in the world outside of the NBA.
“This new deal demonstrates the growing power of the NBL’s brand, and enhances our existing relationship with ESPN,” NBL Chief Commercial Officer, Brad Joyner, said.
“Interest in the NBL from across the globe, and particularly in the USA, has never been bigger, highlighted by us having more than 40 NBA scouts at our pre-season Blitz tournament on the Gold Coast.
“With our Next Stars program boasting a record eight NBA prospects, there’s genuine interest in our games and this new arrangement will allow American fans unprecedented access to watch these players before they make the leap to the NBA.
“Growth is one of the NBL’s key pillars and this deal will bring in a whole new audience to our League.”
ESPN NBA draft expert Jonathan Givony has three NBL players projected to be first round picks for next year’s draft including Perth’s Alex Sarr, Cairns’ Bobi Klintman and Illawarra’s AJ Johnson.
