Concerns for Exum heading into Olympics

Monday, July 22, 2024
A dislocated finger could have Dante Exum in doubt for the Paris Olympics.
Australian Boomers coach Brian Goorjian hasn't ruled out flying in a last-minute replacement for injured star Dante Exum, who hurt his finger in Monday's warm-up game against France.
Exum "dislocated his finger", according to ESPN's Olgun Uluc, with Goorjian admitting it was a real worry heading into the Boomers' Olympic opener on July 27.
"It's a concern, that's all I know," Goorjian said post-game.

It looked somewhat of an innocuous accident for the Dallas Mavericks star, who injured his finger driving to the basket in the second quarter.
He left the court and went straight down to the change rooms, not returning for the remainder of the game.
Exum has been one of the standouts of the Boomers' pre-Olympic campaign, providing great energy off the bench following an NBA season which saw him and teammate Josh Green go all the way to the Finals with the Mavericks.
The players who missed selection in Australia's final 12, Matisse Thybulle, Xavier Cooks, Chris Goulding, DJ Vasiljevic and Jack White could be called upon, if Exum is unavailable for selection.
