Wollongong Hawks Update
As part of the Voluntary Administration process, the Administrators of the Wollongong Hawks held a meeting today with the Creditors of the company. All parties have agreed to extend the period of Administration. The decision allows more time to ensure that the Hawks have the best possible opportunity to compete in the NBL during the 2015/16 season and beyond. Wollongong has seen the local community rally behind the Hawks’ cause over the last month, with multiple businesses pledging their support going forward including new major partner Multi Civil & Rail. NBL Chairman Graeme Wade supported the decision to adjourn and thanked the local Wollongong community for their efforts thus far. “The way that Wollongong has rallied around their beloved Hawks is inspiring. It’s a testament to the club and their fanbase whose passion cannot be questioned,” said Wade. While the decision gives the Hawks additional time, General Manager Kim Welch noted that they were not out of the woods yet. “We are delighted with the support we have received from the Wollongong business community and the community as a whole to date,” explained Welch. “I encourage everyone to continue to show their support to the club as we work through this next phase.” The Administrators will continue to monitor progress with the next meeting date to be determined.
