U'u, Ross to leave Perth
The Perth Wildcats have decided not to sign Earnest Ross to their 2015/16 playing roster, while Drake U'u will be parting ways with the club. Perth Wildcats Managing Director Nick Marvin wishes both players all the best in their future endeavors. “We decided to advise [Earnest] this week, so he can be declared a free-agent by Friday to give him the best opportunity to continue in the NBL,” said Marvin. “We thank Earnest for his year with us and wish him all the best with his basketball aspirations.” Drake U'u will also be moving on, parting ways with the Wildcats after two seasons. “I have a great love and respect for Drake and understand his decision completely,” said Marvin. “Drake will always remain a dear friend of our organisation and I intend to meet with him in July and pass on our gratitude for his service and best wishes for his future.” With the departure of Daniels, Ross and U’u, there are three spots on the Perth Wildcats 2015/16 playing roster and coach Trevor Gleeson is excited with the prospect of bringing in some new talent. “We will definitely need some help in the guard position, and with our import we will need someone to create and open up our shooters," said Gleeson. "We are going to the NBA Summer League in July and will be utilising our Miami Heat and Toronto Raptors contacts as well as reaching out to other teams who have second round draft picks."
