Majok Deng becomes the seventh player contracted to the Tasmania JackJumpers for the NBL27 season.

The Tasmania JackJumpers on Monday announced that Majok Deng has re-signed with the club for the upcoming NBL27 season.

South Sudanese international, Deng’s new two-year deal (second year mutual option) will keep him at the club until the end of the 2027-28 season.

The 33-year-old, who has already spent three seasons with the JackJumpers, including helping them win their maiden title in NBL24, is thrilled to extend his time in Tasmania.

“It means the world to me and my family to call Tasmania and the JackJumpers home,” Deng said.

“Our hearts belong to this place and this team.

“As a player, I couldn’t ask for a more supportive coach, high-performance team and club, and I want to continue to work hard and do them proud on and off the court.”

General Manager of Basketball Operations Darren Smith said Deng was an invaluable asset to the team.

“Majok is always one of our greatest performers on court, and this season was no different,” Smith said.

“Majok is an impact player; he’s been the difference between us winning or losing more times than I’d like to count this season, and his entire time at the club, for that matter.

“His versatility is a huge asset to the team, he can fill multiple roles at a very high standard - he can play centre or forward positions and utilise his shooting and ability to attack the rim, he just has every base covered.”

Coach Scott Roth said Deng was a standout on and off the court for the team.

“We’re all very happy to have Majok and his family with us for another two years,” Roth said.

“It’s really important to have continuity as a club, and also to have a player of his stature in our ranks.

“But it’s really his role in the team that is valuable. Majok has really grown as a leader in the past three seasons.

“He’s one of my all-time favourite guys, and an incredible father to his kids, and a father figure in the club too.”

Deng joins Josh Bannan, Sean Macdonald, Nick Marshall, Ben Ayre, Kobe Williamson and Archie Woodhill (development player) on the JackJumpers’ roster for next season.
