Two of the League’s most entertaining stars will lock horns for the first time this season on Sunday, as Melbourne United take on the Sydney Kings.
“This game is going to be juicy,” Derek Rucker said on NBL Now, presented by CODE Sports.
“I can’t wait to see the matchup between Kendric [Davis] and Cole [Anthony].
“I think this is the game where Cole Anthony starts to put it all together.”
Despite the loss to Perth, NBA talent Anthony has huge for United on Friday, adding 19 points, 3 assists, 2 steals and 1 rebound
Davis, on the other hand, was even more impressive on Thursday night, leading his Kings team to a huge win over the Illawarra Hawks.
The lively playmaker had 23 points, 14 assists and zero turnovers in the game and looked to get whatever he wanted on the floor.
However, last season's MVP runner-up's struggles from the three-point line continue, hitting just one of seven attempts in the game and 22 per cent on the season.
“Structurally, there’s a little hitch in his jump shot; I could fix it in probably seven to 10 minutes,” Rucker added.
“He’s going to figure it out.
“The thing is, and Brett Brown told me this a long time ago, don’t worry about missing shots; worry about when you can’t get shots.
“Right now Kendric is able to create any opportunity he wants.
“He’s smart away from the basketball, and he gets himself into good spaces where he can score the basketball or impact the game.”
Sunday’s blockbuster between Melbourne and Sydney tips off at 5pm AEDT, live on ESPN.
