PJC: Star power at the point is a fan's dream

There has been plenty made of the elite point guard class currently in the Hungry Jack's NBL.

Earlier in the week, dual Olympian Mark Worthington called the current crop of guards, which includes the likes of Bryce Cotton, Kendric Davis, Cole Anthony, Brandon Knight, Skylar Mays, Arnas Velička, Taran Armstrong, Jaylon Brown, Milton Doyle and Parker Jackson-Cartwright, the 'best he's seen'.

The latter, who is the heartbeat of the New Zealand Breakers offence, agreed with Worthington's sentiments.

"This is definitely the strongest the League has been in regards to point guards," Jackson-Cartwright said.

"Every year feels like that to me. New guys come in but there is also some familiarity.

"Whether it is star players, stardom, whatever you want to call it, from the point of view of the big names and exciting players that fans want to see ... it is probably the biggest the League has been since I have been here, but that is exciting.

"I know I can speak on behalf of the point guards in the League, iron sharpens iron, how lucky are we going into every game knowing we can match up against another quality player."

Jackson-Cartwright will go head-to-head with fellow American guard Doyle on Sunday, as the Breakers host Illawarra in Round 1 from 3pm AEST, live on ESPN.
