Scott Morrison to Depart Wildcats for Family Reasons
The Perth Wildcats have announced that coach Scott Morrison will depart the club due to family reasons.
The Wildcats and Morrison have been working closely together over the last month to try and support the Morrison family. However, after grappling with this decision, he has concluded he and his family require the support of their extended family in North America.
“For 35+ years, basketball has driven every facet of my life but as a new parent of two wonderful children I now must put their well-being at the forefront of all decisions. While I loved coaching this team, recent developments lead us as a family to feel that it is in the best interest of our children to be closer to home where a broader and more familiar support system exists,” said Scott Morrison.
“My family and the team have taken great strides to exhaust all options to allow us to comfortably return to Perth, but my wife Susanne and I have made the difficult decision that we feel will most benefit our children. I would like to thank Craig Hutchison, Richard Simkiss and the entire SEN group for their extreme support, understanding and efforts on our behalf. I would also like to thank Troy Georgiu and Danny Mills for providing me the opportunity to lead this incredible club, and also thank you to the Red Army for your passion and support of the team.”
“Most importantly, thank you to our players and basketball staff for their effort, acceptance and friendship during our time in Australia.”
While disappointed to lose him, the Wildcats have granted this request, understanding that family comes first.
