South East Melbourne have signed former EuroCup champion Will Cummings as its final NBL24 import.

South East Melbourne has rounded out its import stocks, with the signing of European guard and former French LNB Pro A MVP, Will Cummings.

Cummings, 30, most recently represented Greek side AEK Athens, following a 12-month stint in China with the Zhejiang Lions.

He has been honoured with a string of individual accolades over the course of his career, starting with being named to the All-NBA D-League Second Team, as a rookie with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in 2016.

Cummings earned his LNB Pro A MVP award in 2022 while representing Metropolitans 92, and was named MVP and top scorer of the German BBL in 2019.

He also won the EuroCup in 2018, and was named to the All-EuroCup First Team while playing for Metropolitans in 2022.

“I’ve always been interested in playing in Australia so when the opportunity presented itself, I wanted to make the move,” Cummings said.

“I’ve been able to speak to coach [Mike] Kelly, we just talked about team and expectations, I just want to bring winnings ways and get another championship.”

Cummings won’t be completely foreign to the Phoenix setup, having played two seasons alongside fellow import Alan Williams, in Russia for Lokomotiv Kuban.

Kelly believes the 188-centimetre American will fit nicely into the group, as the team's for a maiden title commences in September

“Will Cummings will give us another high-level creative ball-handler who scores as well as facilitates,” Kelly said.

“He’s experienced, he’s talented, and he’ll no doubt elevate our group.”

Cummings will arrive in Melbourne next week.
