Petrie signs for three seasons with Sixers

Adelaide have locked in another piece of the puzzle by signing the hard-working power forward Anthony Petrie. Petrie first signed with Adelaide in 2012 and has committed to the club for the next three season, making him a Sixer until the end of the 2017/18 NBL season. Originally from Tenterfield NSW, Peach toiled for several years in the SEABL with the Canberra Gunners, winning back-to-back MVP's before making his NBL debut with the West Sydney Razorbacks in 2007. After a season with the Wollongong Hawks, he found his way to the Gold Coast Blaze under head coach Joey Wright and won the NBL's Most Improved Player Award in 2011. Since moving to Adelaide, "Peach" has established himself as one of the League's best big men and is an important part of Wright's plans moving forward. "It's great to secure Peach long term. He gives us flexibility down low and is a great team player," said Wright. The 32-year old is pleased to be part of Adelaide's future, after helping them reach the NBL Finals the past two consecutive seasons. "I'm very happy to be wearing Sixers blue for the next three years," said Petrie. "There's some exciting things happening at the club and we've had very successful campaigns the last two years. Our our aim is obviously to go one step further and win another Championship this season." Petrie becomes the fifth player on the Adelaide 36ers roster for the upcoming season, joining Adam Gibson, Mitch Creek, Daniel Johnson and Lucas Walker.
