The Perth Wildcats have added NZNBL champion Jack Andrew to their roster

The Perth Wildcats have added NZNBL champion Jack Andrew to their roster for the upcoming season, with the young New Zealander joining forces with the side as a development player on a two-year deal.

The 208cm 21-year-old joins the Wildcats after winning the NZNBL with the Otago Nuggets. He proved an integral part of their title tilt, finishing the season ranked within the top ten for offensive rebounds in the competition.

He says he’s excited to be joining the Wildcats.

“It’s so surreal, it’s been a whirlwind but it’s very cool and very humbling and it really hasn’t sunk in yet,” he said.

“The upside of my game is getting rebounds, I hunt the ball, I get the ball, set screens for my teammates and like to play above the rim, they are focus points for me.”

Perth head coach John Rillie believes Andrew is an exciting long-term development project for the club.

“Jack is a youthful, dynamic athlete, he’s an explosive athlete,” he said.

“One of his main roles on this team will be developing his own personal game, he’s just come off winning a championship with the Otago Nuggets and his continual growth will be really exciting to watch this season.”

Andrew is the third development player signed up for Perth this season, joining Ollie Hayes-Brown and Michael Harris.
