NBL partners with SKY Sport

The NBL is set to return to New Zealand screens in October with SKY Sport bringing fans every game over the 2016/17 season and beyond. The New Zealand Breakers first game of the season sees them take on Melbourne United on 7 October at Vector Arena and will be broadcast on SKY Sport 3 at 7.30pm. NBL General Manager Jeremy Loeliger said the League was delighted to have SKY Sport showcasing the Breakers and the NBL once again. “The NZ Breakers have been one of the NBL’s most successful teams in recent years and with the return of favourite son Kirk Penney to the side they will again be challenging for the top of the ladder. We encourage New Zealand basketball fans to come out and support their chosen team and watch the games live on SKY Sport.” SKY Sport commentator Andrew Mulligan says the breadth of talent in the NBL this year will make it one of the greatest seasons yet. “I can’t believe the quality of the league in what will be the seventh season since the NBL and the Breakers returned to SKY. I’m looking forward to partnering up with Casey Frank again because despite his burgeoning Bollywood career threatening to take off, he’s chosen working alongside me for another go round,” said Mulligan. And for those slam dunk fans that don’t want to lock in to a subscription, our online sports streaming service FAN PASS will give New Zealand fans instant access to SKY Sport 1 through 4 – no strings attached, just all the court-side action. Go to fanpass.co.nz. While SKY Sport and NBL have formed a three-year partnership for the rights, the agreement will undergo a review at the conclusion of each season. NBL Season details: Round 1: Brisbane Bullets v Perth Wildcats – 9.30pm, Thursday October 6 on SKY Sport 2. New Zealand Breakers v Melbourne United - 7.00pm, Friday October 7 on SKY Sport 3.
