Melbourne United coach Dean Vickerman has provided injury updates on stars Shea Ili and Chris Goulding.

Melbourne United star Shea Ili is set for a stint on the sidelines, after sustaining an injury during the club's historic NBAxNBL Series fixture against the New Orleans Pelicans.

The club club announced on Tuesday that the Tall Black would miss the next four to five weeks due to a hamstring injury.

During Melbourne's media availability ahead of Wednesday's Round 4 clash with Sydney, coach Dean Vickerman said his 3-0 side would be without the services of the back-to-back Best Defensive Player for the foreseeable future.

"Everyone saw Shea take a little injury in the NBA game, so he's going to be out for a few now but we'll keep assessing him as to when he'll be back," Vickerman said.

There was more positive news for star Chris Goulding, who has missed the opening three rounds with a quad injury, with the sharpshooter set to make his return on Sunday, during Melbourne's fixture with Cairns at John Cain Arena.

Ili and Goulding will be replaced in United's squad by Campbell Blogg and Tom Koppens on Wednesday.

Melbourne's Ignite Cup clash with Sydney at Qudos Bank Arena tips off at 7.30pm AEDT, live on ESPN.
