Lucas Walker remains a free agent

The Adelaide 36ers and forward Lucas Walker have today parted ways leaving Walker as a free agent. Walker, 31, who played for the Melbourne Tigers and Melbourne United from 2011 – 2015 before heading to Adelaide, is currently back in Melbourne and playing SEABL for the Dandenong Rangers. He thanked the Adelaide 36ers fans today via his Twitter account. “I’d sincerely like to thank the 36ers fans for welcoming and accepting me last season,” he tweeted today.  I really enjoyed my short time in Adelaide and the home crowd atmosphere is arguably the best I’ve experienced in my career. “The club has decided to move in a different direction and I won’t be returning for another season. I understand and accept this part of professional sports. Thank you for your support. Waxy” Walker played an important role in all 28 games for the 36ers last season, starting in 20 games, averaging 5.3 points and 4.9 rebounds. In May he travelled to China with the CPA NBL All Australian Team which won a three-game series against China and was the 5th highest scorer on tour. Walker was the 3rd best rebounder on Adelaide's roster last season with 4.9 rebounds per game while he top scored against the Sydney Kings in round 3 and achieved a double double with 12 points and 10 rebounds against the Illawarra Hawks in round 17.
