Illawarra Hawks soar to FIBA Intercontinental Cup in Singapore

The Hungry Jack’s National Basketball League (NBL) today announced that reigning NBL25 Champions, the Illawarra Hawks, will proudly represent the league at the 2025 FIBA Intercontinental Cup.

The global club basketball tournament is set to electrify Singapore from September 18-21, 2025, continuing the NBL's strong presence on the international stage.

Following the successful participation of the Tasmania JackJumpers in last year’s tournament, the Hawks’ inclusion marks another milestone for Australian basketball, reinforcing the NBL's growing reputation for featuring world-class talent and highly competitive teams.

The Hawks face a formidable line-up of continental champions from around the globe.The confirmed teams so far include:
- Flamengo (Brazil)
– Basketball Champions League Americas Champions
- Unicaja (Spain)
– Basketball Champions League Europe Champions
- Utsunomiya Brex (Japan)
– Basketball Champions League Asia Champions
- Alahli SC (Libya)
– Basketball Africa League Champions

“We are delighted to welcome the Illawarra Hawks to the FIBA Intercontinental Cup,” FIBA Secretary General, Andreas Zagklis said.

“It is the second consecutive year that a team from the NBL and Oceania takes part in our flagship club competition, ensuring representation from all five FIBA regions. It is a testament to the strong collaboration between FIBA, Basketball Australia and the NBL, and to our joint vision of shaping the future of international club basketball.”
