HUNGER GAMES - MOCKING JAY – Part 2

This week’s movie review is of the last movie in The Hunger Games trilogy; Mocking Jay - Part 2. For those who may have spent some time under a rock in recent years, the movies are based on a trilogy of books written by Suzanne Collins. The third book is spread out over two movies which, is awesome, because its means more of The Hunger Games. Okay, in brief.. An undisclosed future period of a post apocalyptic world, in an area formally known as North America, a country named Panem is created. The Capitol is located somewhere around the Rocky Mountains area, and the rest of the country is split into 12 separate "districts" labelled simply by their numbers. All district residents are essentially slaves that live in poverty with a sole purpose of providing everything the citizens of The Capital need to live a lavish and glamorous lifestyle. “Not cool!” Katniss Everdeen agrees. Katniss is played by Jennifer Lawrence, or J Law, as we ‘friends’ like to call her. She hails from District 12 and is a rebel at heart with a desire for equality and fairness for all residents of Panem. After surviving two killing tournaments (The Hunger Games) she is placed in The Capitol. Katniss returns to District 13, (thought to be no longer in existence) and becomes the face of the revolution looking to over throw the current regime. She is seen as a symbol of hope and courage for the rebel troops and leads their uprising fight for freedom. When the other districts get behind her and join the rebellion, Katniss takes it upon herself to kill President Snow and stop the inhumanity of the past 76 years. She and her squad must fight against The Capitol's army and their hundreds of futuristic traps placed throughout the city if they aim to end it all. Luckily they're just as committed as she is in changing the way of life in Panem. I'm a big fan of The Hunger Games, I even got the books for Christmas last year and had read them all by New Years Eve. No, I didn't have a lot else going on in my life at the time. I liked that the final book was made into a two-part movie because it was able to tell the story in greater detail, even though some parts may have dragged on a little, it's all relevant. It's good to see the victors of The Hunger Games tournament unite in this final movie but sad I had to say goodbye to some favourites. After all, the motto "may the odds be ever in your favour" can't apply to everyone!   3/5 – Friends of J Law!   Follow me on Twitter: @Lucaswaxy Go check it out at HOYTS today: http://www.hoyts.com.au/
