Hawks Re-Sign Developing Guard

The Illawarra Hawks have secured the signature of Development Player Lachlan Dent for the 2022/23 Hungry Jack’s NBL Season.

Dent is back for a third year with the Hawks, having made 20 NBL appearances in his career so far.

The 22-year-old has been in strong form for the Brisbane Capitals in the NBL1 competition, averaging 17 points, five assists and four rebounds across 15 games.

New Hawks’ coach Jacob Jackomas said the team was thrilled to retain Dent.

“After a great NBL1 season, it was a high priority to ensure Lachlan returned as a member of our squad for another season,” he told the club’s website.

“He’s been a part of the team for the past two semi-final campaigns and will be a huge part of continuing the culture, work ethic and day-to-day success.”

Dent debuted for the Hawks in 2020 and previously represented Australia at under-17 level.

“Lachie is a local guy, and his signing reaffirms our club is committed and focussed not only on developing local talent coming out of the Illawarra, but on retaining them as well.”

Dent joins Tyler Harvey, Sam Froling, Daniel Grida, Alex Mudronja, Akoldah Gak, Wani Swaka Lo Buluk and Deng Deng on the Hawks’ roster for the upcoming season.
