The Illawarra Hawks have announced development player Harry Morris will be returning to the side for the NBL24 season.

Morris – who hails from the Wollongong area – suited up for four regular season games across the NBL23 season and averaged 1.5 points per game.

The 20-year-old sharpshooter says the opportunity to continue with the Hawks was a no-brainer.

““I thoroughly enjoyed my first season and am looking forward to continuing to learn from Jacob, our coaches, and the senior players,” he said

“Being a part of the Hawks program was something I always aspired to as a junior and I am thrilled to have my stay extended in to a second season.”

Morris has stayed with the Hawks’ NBL1 East side for the NBL off-season, where he is set to play a starring role alongside his NBL teammate Will Hickey.

Hawks General Manager of Basketball Mat Campbell believes NBL1 will give a strong foundation for Morris’ continued development.

“The NBL1 season with Illawarra will provide Harry a platform to expand his game and take on greater responsibility at the offensive end,” Campbell said.

“Harry’s progress is a great example for local juniors and shows the pathway on offer from our local associations to the elite level.

“Harry embraced his first season in the professional ranks, and we look forward to him continuing his development with Jacob (Jackomas) and the group.”

Morris has joined Hickey, Sam Froling, Justin Robinson, Tyler Harvey, Dan Grida and Wani Swaka Lo Buluk on the Hawks’ roster for NBL24.
