The Illawarra Hawks have signed Kobe McDowell-White on a two-year deal, as their final Development Player for NBL25.

The Illawarra Hawks have added another exciting talent to their roster for NBL25, with the signing of Kobe McDowell-White as a development player.

The up-and-coming 20-year-old guard was put on the Hawks' radar after a strong season in the NBL1 North where he averaged 15.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 6.1 assists.

He is the brother of former NBL star Will McDowell-White.

"We are excited to have Kobe as the final signing for the Illawarra Hawks roster for NBL25. He was a standout in the NBL1 season, really catching our attention and came highly recommended by our current assistant coach Joel Khalu," Hawks' General Manager of Basketball, Mat Campbell said.

"We have believed for a long time that it is important for the club to provide a pathway and present opportunities for our emerging First Nations players.

“That has been a key part of the Hawks community and basketball strategy, even before our ground-breaking Indigenous game in 2018, which led to the league implementing the Indigenous round annually.”

McDowell-White said he was delighted to join the Hawks.

"It is great to be in this environment and improve my game and myself, both on and off the court."

The Hawks face the Tasmania JackJumpers at home on Saturday night at 5:30pm AEDT, live on ESPN.
