Hawks Add Bill Preston as Injury Cover

The Illawarra Hawks have announced the signing of 22-year-old Billy Preston.

The 6’10” power forward will provide some added athleticism to the roster with Sam Froling still recovering from an ankle injury.

The former McDonald’s All-American attended Kansas but went down the professional route after a prolonged investigation by the NCAA. Preston never suited up for the Jayhawks, instead commencing his professional career in Bosnia.

After going undrafted in 2018, Preston signed a two-way contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers, suiting up for their G-League affiliate the Canton Charge.

Preston most recently appeared for the Texas Legends in the G-League, averaging 10.8 points and 7.0 rebounds per game in 10 appearances.

Preston will join the team at training this week along with recently signed Darington Hobson.
