#HardBall Podcast: Episode 16 feat. Cedric Jackson
This week on the #HardBall Podcast Tommy Greer, Liam Santamaria and Brett Thomas recap all the major story-lines from Round 18 of the NBL. The boys discuss New Zealand’s season-saving wins over Adelaide and Cairns, Melbourne’s impressive win on the road and Illawarra’s remarkable single-season turnaround, locking in a Finals spot after taking out last year’s wooden spoon. The boys also chat the Perth Wildcats and their historic achievement in qualifying for their 30th consecutive post-season. New Zealand Breakers point god Cedric Jackson was a man possessed in Round 18. The three-time champion simply refused to let the Breakers’ championship defence die, torching Adelaide for 31 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists before dominating in New Zealand’s win over Cairns with 15 points, 11 dimes and 6 boards. Jackson joins the boys to discuss his phenomenal shooting against the 36ers, keeping the Finals dream alive and those rumours of internal disharmony at the Breakers. The race to the Finals all comes down to Round 19 with Adelaide and New Zealand jostling for fourth spot while Melbourne and Perth decide who will finish the season as Minor Premiers. Perth open the round on Wednesday night with a trip to Sydney, before Cairns and Townsville fight out the season’s fourth and final Reptile Rumble the following night. Friday’s double-header sees the Breakers and United open their two-game home-and-away set in New Zealand while Adelaide will be fighting tooth and nail to stay alive against Illawarra. Sydney and Townsville will be playing for pride on Saturday night before the season’s final day: New Zealand at Melbourne and Adelaide at Perth.
