Childress found guilty by Tribunal

The National Basketball League’s Independent Tribunal has found Sydney Kings player Josh Childress guilty of Unsportsmanlike Behaviour for when he verbally abused the referees in the tunnel of Titanium Security Arena following the Adelaide 36ers v Sydney Kings game on Saturday 7 November 2015. Childress entered a guilty plea for Unsportsmanlike Behaviour and as a result has been suspended for two games, effective immediately. Childress has also been directed by the Tribunal to provide written apologies to the referees involved within the next seven days. In addition, Childress received a two-game suspended suspension which will apply to any offences relating to game officials for the 2015/16 and the 2016/17 NBL season. Another charge of Offensive/Obscene/Profane Language to Referee/Game Official was withdrawn. Independent Tribunal Chairman Tony Nolan QC stated that the conduct of Mr Childress was serious and warranted a substantial suspension. “This Tribunal will not tolerate any misconduct which is directed at the referees.”
