Chemist Warehouse Wellness Round tips off 2016/17 Season

The highly anticipated 2016/17 NBL season will get underway on Thursday 6 October with the Chemist Warehouse Wellness Round. The on-court action will get off to an electric start when reigning NBL Champions Perth Wildcats go head-to-head with the Brisbane Bullets in a blockbuster at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. The night will mark the long awaited return of the Bullets to the NBL after eight years out of the action. “The return of basketball to South-East Queensland is a major boon for the NBL,” said NBL General Manager Jeremy Loeliger. “It is sure to be a highly charged atmosphere inside the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. The Perth Wildcats will be looking to carry on from where they left off last season, but the Bullets have assembled an outstanding playing squad and a first-rate coaching staff led by Australian Boomers coach Andrej Lemanis. They will be hard to beat. “Restabilising the Brisbane Bullets has been made much easier because of the fantastic support we receive from our commercial partners including Chemist Warehouse,” said Loeliger. Chemist Warehouse COO Mario Tascone said: “We are a proud supporter of the NBL and we are delighted to have the Chemist Warehouse Wellness Round launching the 2016/17 NBL season. “It has been an exciting off-season and the return of the Brisbane Bullets to the competition is a huge positive for the NBL. With many clubs signing some fantastic home grown and imported talent, this NBL season is sure to be as competitive and as skilful as there has ever been.” To further mark the night in Brisbane, one lucky fan will have the chance to win $1million as part of the ‘NBL Thanks You’ competition. All they will have to do is land a basket from the half-way line. “This is the first time anyone has had the chance to shoot for one million dollars at an NBL game,” said Loeliger. “It could be a life-changing night for one lucky fan.” A fortunate crowd member will also have the chance to shoot for the following cash prizes at all other Chemist Warehouse Wellness Round games.
  • 1st shot from the half-way line for $10,000
  • 2nd shot from the three-point line for $3,000
  • 3rd Shot from the free-throw line for $2,000
