Captain Oscar Forman re-signs with the Hawks

The most experienced player in the NBL, Oscar Forman has re-signed with the Illawarra Hawks on a new one year deal. The captain will add to to his remarkable 451 NBL game career, 175 of them as a Hawk - as he enters his 16th season. “I’m thrilled to be back for another season with the Hawks, especially after such an enjoyable season," said Forman. "The chemistry we had in the group was incredible, and played a crucial role in our success. "By adding some new players to the core I feel we can definitely go further and I want to be a part of that." Forman’s addition to an already impressive Australian nucleus sees the Illawarra Hawks perfectly positioned to insert three imports over the coming months. Hawks General Manager Kim Welch said the club will be patient in conducting an extensive selection process. “This season, more than ever, the import positions will be critical to each club's success," said Welch. “We feel we have positioned ourselves well with the Aussie talent we have recruited and retained, and with the right imports, I believe we can build an even stronger roster than last season." Welch said the he is weighing up the possibility of heading over to the US to ensure they can secure the very best talent available. “Head coach Rob Beveridge and I will look to head over to the NBA Summer League so we can give ourselves every opportunity to secure the best talent available. "Bevo has some established contacts in the US, so we need to get over there and  bring ourselves back a game changer."
