The Adelaide 36ers have sent an early message to the rest of the competition, claiming the Loggins-Bruton Cup as the Hungry Jack's NBL Blitz champions.

It's a second straight Blitz triumph for the 36ers after their win last season in Tasmania with coach CJ Bruton retaining the trophy that his father Cal shares naming rights of with Leroy Loggins.

Tournament bragging rights were still very much in the balance heading into the final match of the Blitz in Darwin, with Brisbane needing to win and claim three quarters against Melbourne to join Adelaide in top spot. But United upset the Bullets' plans, moving from seventh to second in the standings with a big win.

Perth was next in line, with Tasmania, Illawarra, Brisbane and Sydney all winning two of their three games.

The 36ers had some outstanding performers, with Robert Franks, Antonius Cleveland, Mitch McCarron and Craig Randall all putting up big numbers throughout the Blitz.

The Hungry Jack's NBL Season tips off next Saturday evening, with South East Melbourne Phoenix taking on Tasmania and Illawarra hosting the Sydney Kings.
