A Very NBL Christmas

Jason Cadee – Sydney Kings Where and with who will you be spending Christmas? I'm lucky enough to be able to get down to Melbourne for a day and a half, which is where all my dad’s side of the family is. Christmas usually turns into a day of basketball arguments/discussions which are always entertaining. What is your favourite, craziest, funniest Christmas memory? Not sure it was funny at the time but when I was younger I got a new basketball hoop and I was outside playing. There was a bit of a gutter which I just happened to trip on. The result, I and split the top of my nose and ended up in hospital getting stitches. Wasn't fun! Ha What is your favourite Christmas meal to eat and/or cook? First thing is that it’s not me doing the cooking. My godfather Grant Cadee has cooking duties at Christmas time and he normally cooks up a storm, although I'd never tell him as it would pump up his ego too much. Whatever he cooks though normally works out well. Anything on your Christmas wish-list? Nothing too major on the list this year. I got a Segway a few months ago so that was my early Christmas present! What is your Christmas message? I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas/holidays and spends it with family & friends! Stay safe and enjoy.   Tai Wesley – New Zealand Where and with who will you be spending Christmas? I'll be spending Christmas here in New Zealand. With my wife, newborn son Major and my parents will fly in from Hawaii to join us. My wife is a bit depressed about Christmas here though because she says it's not really Christmas without the snow! What is your favourite, craziest, funniest Christmas memory? Favourite Christmas memory was when I lived in Guam and I was about 8 years old. I remember the power went out Christmas Day right before we were going to have our big Christmas dinner and open presents. Our food was only half cooked and candles lit the entire house but it was one of my favorite Christmas memories because, the power going out brought the whole family together. We could only hang out in the living room because that's was the only place with light. We ate our half cooked meal and talked about Christ and what he went through as our family remembered the true meaning of Christmas. What is your favourite Christmas meal to eat and/or cook? Favourite thing to eat at Christmas is crab legs or lobster. Anything on your Christmas wish-list? A new hover board because Ced broke my other one. Haha What is your Christmas message? My Christmas message is about family! It's about being with those whom you love and remembering why we celebrate Christmas. It's about our Savior. "For unto us a child is born, Unto us a son is given, And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6   Anthony Petrie – Adelaide 36ers Where and with who will you be spending Christmas? I will be spending it in Adelaide with my wife and three girls; my wife's parents are coming across from Canberra to spend it with us also. We actually have three days off over Christmas due to the way our draw has worked out. This will be the first time this has ever happened since I’ve been playing in the NBL. Last year we trained Christmas day so I’m feeling VERY lucky. What is your favourite, craziest, funniest Christmas memory? I have always loved every Christmas except one. It was at my auntie’s house and all the family were there with heaps of presents and awesome food. I was a young fella and I fell ill on Christmas Eve with the chicken pox. I was banished upstairs and laid on the bed for the whole day. I’m still not over it. What is your favourite meal? My wife's lamb roast with roast veg and gravy. Also maybe a little of Mum's glazed ham. Then followed up with my Mum’s famous trifle. Not real good for the waist line, but it's Christmas right?! Christmas wish list? I would love a new YZ450F from Santa but I don't think I've been good enough boy this year!! I will settle for some dad clothes, socks and jocks. Christmas Message? I hope everyone finds time to spend with loved ones at this special time of year and gets into the Christmas spirit. I hope everyone eats way too much, makes runs in backyard cricket and has a great arvo sleep. Remember it's not what’s under the Christmas tree but who's around it.    Mark Worthington – Cairns Taipans Where and with who will you be spending Christmas? Staying out at Clifton beach, halfway to Port Douglas from Cairns with my wife Andrea and my two boys Taz and Axel. What is your favourite, craziest, funniest Christmas memory? While playing in Serbia a few years back I got to spend Christmas with Andrea and the boys at Disneyland Paris. I don't know who enjoyed it more the kids or me. What is your favourite meal? Seafood is always a must on Christmas day. Christmas wish list? A few more wins would be nice. Maybe a new body since the current one is out of warranty. Christmas Message? Merry Christmas to all. Enjoy time with your loved ones and thank you for your support of the NBL.   AJ Ogilvy – Illawarra Hawks  Where and with who will you be spending Christmas? I'm spending my Christmas in Sydney with my family. Christmas night we usually have family friends over. It's a good chance to catch up with everyone. What is your favourite, craziest, funniest Christmas memory? Don't have too many crazy Christmas memories although one of my favourites was when I went to New York while I was in college. Being able to experience all those things you see in movies was pretty amazing What is your favourite Christmas meal to eat and/or cook? My family does a Christmas ham that I look forward to all year. I'm not a great cook but the thing I bring is a pineapple casserole. It's pretty easy and delicious. Anything on your Christmas wish-list? I have asked my family to buy me Lego because I don't really need anything else.  What is your Christmas message? My message is to enjoy the holiday period with your family and friends but do it responsibly.   Mitch Norton – Townsville Crocodiles Where and with who will you be spending Christmas? I will be spending Christmas at home in Townsville with my family and close friends What is your favourite, craziest, funniest Christmas memory? My favourite Christmas memory was getting my first ever motorbike. I was about three years old, greatest present Santa has got me :) What is your favourite Christmas meal to eat and/or cook? My favourite Christmas meal? Well it's a tough choice, at the Norton household we put on a feast, if I had to pick I guess it I would have to say, the roast pork. Anything on your Christmas wish-list? Thanks to Leon Henry he has got me itching for one of those level boards! What is your Christmas message? Hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas! Stay safe and enjoy the break with friends and family!   Daniel Kickert – Melbourne United Where and with who will you be spending Christmas? I'll be spending Christmas at my folks house with extended family. My wife's family are flying out for the holidays so it will be great to have them join us for what will hopefully be a hot, sunny Christmas. What is your favourite, craziest, funniest Christmas memory? Favourite memory would be when I was seven and I experienced my first white Christmas in Canada with my extended family. Santa even knew I was there.    What is your favourite Christmas meal to eat and/or cook? Favourite food at Christmas is definitely the crackling off of the roast pork. Followed up with a good trifle for dessert. Anything on your Christmas wish-list? This year I'll be asking for a few extra wins...... But a few essentials (wallet, sunnies, socks and jocks) would be very much appreciated. What is your Christmas message? My message would be to cherish the Christmas time with close family and friends. Have a BBQ, get merry, and take a nap in the afternoon.   Greg Hire – Perth Wildcats Where and with who will you be spending Christmas? I will be spending Christmas with my family in the morning and then heading off to practice around midday. Due to playing a couple of days later it will be a pretty tame breky. I always have Chrissie dinner at my in-laws place and we invite a few of the lads and their partners over as they unfortunately don't have family here. I will also be spending some time feeding the homeless a couple of days before Christmas at an event set up in the city, which I'm very excited about. What is your favourite, craziest, funniest Christmas memory? I'm notorious for guessing Christmas presents before they are opened and I get easily excited; so you can imagine my wife's disappointment when I guessed I was getting a brand new 'iPhone' only to open up a GPS and me commenting you know iPhones have Google Maps on it... didn't go down to well What is your favourite Christmas meal to eat and/or cook? I'm all about the seafood – we generally have a BBQ breakfast in the morning, my mum is vegetarian so it's good to rest up for lunch with some salad and then hit it home hard with traditional Christmas meals and seafood. Anything on your Christmas wish-list? I've got plenty on the Christmas wish list – I'm waiting for someone to get me a barbers gift voucher as I can't afford a haircut. I've sneakily suggested a few items but I'm just hoping my shower stops leaking, my dog stops digging holes in the backyard and a new MacBook Pro miraculously lands under my Christmas tree. What is your Christmas message? Try and give something to those less fortunate and remember what Christmas is about - everyone has different interpretations of the day but if you can make an individual feel that bit more special for a moment, that is better than any gift you can buy.
