A good call - ALCATEL ONETOUCH announced as Official Smartphone and Tablet partner
ALCATEL ONETOUCH, a leading global smartphone and tablet brand, has today been announced as the latest partner to join the revamped National Basketball League (NBL) as part of the 2015/16 season and beyond, with the company named as the ‘Official Smartphone and Tablet partner’ of the league and its teams. The partnership will deliver significant benefits to both brands, with ALCATEL ONETOUCH products being used in fan promotions at every game across the season, as well as player appearances across the country that will coincide with the launch of the company’s next generation of smartphones and tablets. NBL General Manager Jeremy Loeliger said the NBL was excited to partner with ALCATEL ONETOUCH as the league continues to secure major sponsors ahead of season tip off in October. “We are excited to welcome ALCATEL ONETOUCH as our ‘Official Smartphone and Tablet partner’. The NBL is currently developing a digital content hub as part of our rebranding so we are able to provide a new generation of fans with 24/7 content – which is almost exclusively consumed on a mobile or tablet device,” he said. “ALCATEL ONETOUCH complements our new strategy perfectly in this way. They are also a brand that mirrors our commitment to continual innovation to provide our customers with the best product possible – for the NBL that is delivering an innovative, easily consumable, digital product.” ALCATEL ONETOUCH Regional Managing Director Sam Skontos said this latest partnership fits their ambitious local growth plans based on accessibility, affordability, creativity and fun. “We have always appreciated the important role that basketball plays in the Australian sports landscape, and believe the NBL’s vision of growth, accessibility and excitement closely align to our own goals in Australia and New Zealand,” he said. “Australian basketball fans are also among the biggest consumers of digital content globally per capita, content that can be enjoyed on our devices that deliver the latest technology in an affordable manner. We look forward to being part of the journey as more NBL-driven content becomes available.” Not new to the Australian sports sponsorship market, ALCATEL ONETOUCH has an existing relationship with the South Sydney Rabbitohs in the NRL and Greater Western Sydney Giants in the AFL, though the new relationship with the NBL marks its first league-wide partnership. Today’s announcement demonstrates the NBL’s focus on digital rebranding and a clever strategy to collaborate with brand partners that align with its content delivery roll-out plans. Since being acquired by Melbourne-based businessman Larry Kestelman in June, the NBL has pursued an ambitious agenda to secure major sponsors and announced a landmark broadcast deal with FOX SPORTS earlier this month.
