The Adelaide 36ers will have some added championship pedigree to call on in NBL24, after announcing club legend Scott Ninnis’ return to the club as an assistant coach.

Ninnis played in two championship triumphs with the 36ers in 1986 and 1998 in two separate stints with the club, as well as winning the 1992 championship with the South East Melbourne Magic.

He also won the NBL’s Most Improved Player award in 1993 and is an Adelaide 36ers Life Member.

“Scott is a legend of the 36ers and the NBL,” Adelaide head coach CJ Bruton said. “He has so much experience as a player, assistant coach and head coach.

“This is a great fit for the club.”

“It seems quite surreal that I’m back involved with the club that has been such a huge part of my life. It’s very humbling and I can’t wait to start.”

Along with playing in two of Adelaide’s four championship triumphs, Ninnis was an assistant at the club when they also triumphed in 1999 and 2002.

He has also held assistant coaching roles at the Townsville Crocodiles and South Dragons in the NBL, and held the position of head coach of the 36ers between 2008-2010.
