2015/16 MVP and Awards Night Recap

Illawarra Hawks star Kevin Lisch took out the National Basketball League’s most prestigious award, the Most Valuable Player, Andrew Gaze Trophy presented by Chemist Warehouse at the league's gala dinner last night. Returning to the NBL after two years in Europe, one of which was spent playing with second place getter Chris Goulding from CTI Melbourne United. The pair teamed up for Zaragoza in the Spanish ACB League. Reuniting with former Championship coach Rob Beverage, Lisch returned to Australia to play for the Illawarra Hawks who are sitting in third place for the Swisse NBL Finals Series starting tomorrow. Lisch was MVP in 2012 while with Perth Wildcats and part of the Perth Wildcats Championship side in 2010, also taking out the Grand Final MVP Award in 2010. Jerome Randle the people’s choice, missed three games at the start of the year arriving as a late replacement for Kenyon McNeail who hurt himself during the NBL’s dunk contest and two at the very end due to a knee injury. Despite having an outstanding individual season he could not quite make up the votes on Goulding and Lisch however he did take out the Australia Post Fans MVP Award.
