New-Look NBL Unveiled

The reinvigoration of the National Basketball League has continued today with the official launch of the new brand in Melbourne this morning including the new-look website and logo. NBL General Manager Jeremy Loeliger said he was excited to unveil the new modern brand of Australia’s premier basketball league. “Today is a really exciting day for the NBL. It’s also an exciting day for the fans and the players who can be proud of their NBL and dive into a heap of content – and it’s only going to keep improving. Between now and the season tip-off, we’re going to be adding even more new features and of course the content will only get more interesting as we get closer to round one,” he said. “I am extremely proud of what the NBL team, together with Publicis Mojo Melbourne and Fox Sports Pulse, have achieved in such a short time. It is a real milestone to be able to stand here today in front of our brand new website and logo, with new merchandise products that will soon be on sale, and see our vision for reinvigorating basketball in Australia come to life. “We have an ambitious goal to reposition the NBL as the number one summer sports entertainment brand in Australia and New Zealand, and today’s announcement is integral to achieving that, along with securing a broadcast deal, which we are progressing with.” Screen Shot 2015-08-06 at 9.13.26 am Executive Director of the NBL Larry Kestelman appointed Publicis Mojo’s Melbourne office to develop a rebrand for the NBL in June this year, and at the same time, worked with Fox Sports Pulse to create a new website for the league. General Manager of Publicis Mojo Melbourne Georgina Pownall said the new brandmark was designed to be something that would be relevant over the next thirty years as well as bold statement that would be a strong enough symbol to stand on its own but with the flexibility to work as a partner with team logos. Publicis also wanted to create a logo that basketball fans would be proud to wear on a t-shirt. “We are pumped to be partnering the NBL in its next exciting phase. We can’t wait to let people know that Australian basketball’s back in a big way, and inspire game attendance and TV viewership,” Ms Pownall said. The NBL last week revolutionised summer sport by announcing the 2015/16 schedule included mid-week fixtures, spreading games across a five day Wednesday-Sunday format, with basketball going head to head with cricket’s Big-Bash league.
